Frequently asked questions…
Will I need alterations on my dress?
Yes, our dresses are made to order, not made to measure. We take your measurements on the day of your appointments and it’s our policy to recommend and order the standard dress size that is closest to your measurements that day. 99% of brides who buy a dress from us need some kind of alteration to make the dress fit perfectly. Please see alterations section below for more information.
Do I need to book an appointment?
We always advise that you book an appointment to make sure we can see you at your preferred time/date. Walk-ins are also welcome but can only be seen if we have availability at the time. If we are fully booked you would not be able to try on.
Do you charge for appointments?
Appointments are chargeable. This fee is non-refundable and can be deducted from any dress purchase on the day of your appointment. We ask that you give us 7 days notice to cancel or reschedule. This ensures that we have the appropriate number of staff scheduled and allows us to make sure we have the time and resources to sanitise our fitting rooms between appointments.
How many people can I bring with me?
The number of guests you can bring with you are as below:
Wedding Gown appointment - We can host the bride and up to 4 guests.
If you wish to bring up to 6 guests, please book any slot on a Thursday and ignore the 4 guest rule on the booking. This is only available on a Thursday.
Collection appointment - We can host the bride plus up to 3 guests.
How long do bridal appointments last?
We allocate 90 minutes for bridal appointments, this is the perfect time slot to try lots of dresses on and narrow down to find your perfect dress. You can try on as many dresses as you like to find the one, but your stylist will keep you right with timing. Your stylist will help you make the most of your appointment and pull dresses for you to try based on what you like. You will be able to choose what dresses you’d like to try on at the beginning of your appointment and your guests are welcome to choose some too.
What is your price range?
We have gowns to suit most budgets and the prices vary in each of our departments. Our Dress to Order department ranges from £899 to £3,399. Our ready to wear department which is priced between £499-£1599. We also have sale dresses available that have been discounted by up to 70% and usually priced between £499 & £899. If you have a specific budget you’d like to stick to, you can let us know when you book your appointment and we’ll work with you to try and find the perfect dress at the right price. Please note, no matter what your budget is we will do our best to help you stick to it. We understand weddings are expensive and we’re not here to discriminate, we just want to help you have your magical yes moment!
Do I have to pay up front?
We ask for a 50% deposit to secure your order with the remaining 50% due at the end of the following calendar month. This secures your order and ensures our supplier does not run out of fabric/increase the price before your gown goes into production. All payments and deposits are non-refundable for this reason. Once your gown is ordered, the production process starts immediately, sometimes even the same day.
What sizes do you stock?
Our sample gowns start from a size 4 and range to a size 30 in store. Our ready to wear gowns start from a size 8 and range to a size 26. We can order dresses in any size required and often order gowns above and below this size range so please don’t worry if you don’t fall within these sizes, we take your measurements on the day and will discuss this with you at time of order. Size is just a number, we don’t care what number you are, just that it fits as best it can and that it’s comfortable.
How far in advance should I order?
Dresses take 4-8 months to arrive in store. If you have the time, we recommend ordering 12 months in advance or more to allow time for alterations, although we can work with shorter time frames and we also sometimes have rush slots available. If you have ordered a super customised dress, this can sometimes take longer but we will advise you best during your appointment. We also have a department called ready to wear, full of beautiful gowns ready to take home the same day.
When will I collect my gown?
Gowns can take anywhere between 4-8 months to arrive, this varies hugely depending on the style of gown and how busy our production is at time of order. When your beautiful gown is ready, we will call you to arrange a collection appointment where you will try your gown on before taking it home. Collection appointments are available five days per week (excluding Tuesdays and Saturdays) and this includes up to 7pm on Thursdays. Collection appointments should be made within four weeks of being notified to avoid fees (£25 per week till collection is booked). We do not offer a storage service.
Do you offer alterations?
We do not currently offer in store alterations but we do have a list of recommendations for local bridal seamstresses who are based in Glasgow City Centre. Recommendations are based on feedback from our past brides and we are not affiliated with these companies. We can’t ever guarantee that our recommendations will have availability and we also cannot quote on work needing done as these are individual companies who set their own prices.
What will my alterations cost?
Please note that we cannot ever accurately quote for alterations because we do not offer alterations and don’t know what needs done to your dress. Only a seamstress will be able to give you advice on this and quote accurately. We do have some top tips to consider regarding alterations:
•What you pay for your dress has nothing to do with how much your alterations will cost. For example, you could spend £399 on your wedding dress and your alterations may cost £600. Your alterations quote is based on how much work needs done to make it fit correctly, not how much the dress is worth or how expensive it is.
•Just because your dress is plain, doesn’t mean you won’t need a few alterations to give the perfect fit. Often plain gowns can be cheaper to have altered but this isn’t always the case, sometimes even the simpler designs have lots of layers that need hemmed, they may still need adjusted to fit at the bust, waist and shoulders and they will probably need other standard alterations such as adding a bustle.
•If you’re buying one of our intricate ballgowns from our luxury collection, you can expect to pay a premium for alterations. Why spend all that money on an incredible dress and then not want the best people working on it so that it looks the best it possibly can? We recommend that you budget
